About Sawtell Village
Sunny Sawtell is a trendy beachside community located just 10 minutes from Coffs Harbour. There is always something to do in Sawtell and it’s popular with locals as well as tourists. There is a wide variety of cafes, restaurants and shops, all conveniently located along the main street – First Avenue.
It’s here that you’ll also find Sawtell Cinema, an historic landmark which was recently refurbished with the support of locals. Picturesque giant fig trees grow along the median strip in First Avenue providing shade to the shopping and dining area and contributing to the unique ambience of the township.
The main surf beach is home to the Sawtell Surf Club and is patrolled daily during most of the summer. It is a popular surf, swimming and fishing beach. The headlands are ideal for watching the migrating whales and taking in the beautiful coastline views. At the southern end of Sawtell Beach you’ll find Sailors Bay, an area sheltered by a small island which can be reached at low tide. There is a boat launching ramp, nearby parking, and tidal rock pools.
Lots of choice, ranging from take-away meals, alfresco cafes and a pub bistro, to award winning restaurants. There is also the RSL, the Golf Club and the Bowling Club. Some venues offer music or entertainment in the evening. See Trip Advisor for reviews of 24 restaurants in Sawtell.
Unique and boutique. That’s how shopping on the Coffs Coast has been described. You won’t be disappointed in Sawtell. There’s something for everybody – boutique clothing stores, jewellery, shoes and accessories, healthy lifestyle options and a bargain store.
Being so close to Coffs, it is possible to book a 30 minute trike tour and do a scenic round trip to Sawtell and back, taking in Sawtell’s iconic First Avenue and the breathtaking Lookout.
Alternately, Sawtell could be the first stop on a tour of the southern region of the Coffs Coast, also taking in Raleigh, Mylestom and Urunga. You would need to allow at least 90 minutes or even 2 hours in order to do this, or once again we can customise a tour of all or any of these areas to suit you.
