Nambucca Heads

About Nambucca Heads

Just a short detour off the Pacific Highway and you are welcomed by the glorious vista of the Nambucca River meeting the ocean. Gorgeous beaches and coastal scenery await those who ride their way down to the headland or out to one of the local lookouts.

Nambucca Heads Attractions

Several lookouts offering fantastic views are dotted along the headlands. With views to South West Rocks towards the south, almost to Coffs Harbour towards the north and west along the river to the mountains. The magnificent views from Captain Cook and Rotary Lookouts are equivalent to a living postcard.

V-Wall Outdoor Gallery

You can head over to the V-Wall where there is an outdoor art gallery stretching from the car park to the river entrance. And it’s not a closed shop – everyone is encouraged to paint a rock at the legendary V-Wall, to leave their holiday messages, inspirational words, or memories. This creative space provides a great read with comments from locals as well as visitors from around Australia and across the globe. Here you’ll also find the V-Wall Tavern, where you can enjoy a coffee, a cool drink or a light meal out on the balcony overlooking a spectacular view across the river estuary and the ocean beyond.

Main Street Mosaic Wall

Along the main street of Nambucca Heads is a fantastic mosaic wall. Dolphins, fish and an octopus emerge from concrete waves in what may be Australia’s longest sculpture – ‘The River’. The sculpture depicts the story of how the river winds from the mountains of the Great Dividing Range, through towns and farmland until it meets the sea. Local artists have also painted electricity power poles along the main street, also depicting the theme ‘Where the River Meets the Sea’.

Tour Options
